Simplify Salesforce Permission Management with Org Overview: A New Dashboard Solution

Simplify Salesforce Permission Management with Org Overview
Managing user access in Salesforce is no small feat—especially in large or complex orgs. Between profiles, permission sets, permission set groups, not to mention the sun-setting of permissions-on-profiles, staying on top of your org’s security posture can feel like a full-time job.
That’s why we’re excited to introduce a brand-new feature in Permissions Assistant:
The Org Overview
This new landing page is your one-stop dashboard for seeing what’s really going on with permissions in your Salesforce org—at a glance _and_ in detail.
Why Your Salesforce Org Needs Better Permissions Management
Effective user access management in Salesforce is critical for maintaining security compliance and operational efficiency. As your org grows, so does the task of keeping track of "who has access to what". For Salesforce admins managing large organizations, this challenge can impact productivity and potentially create security vulnerabilities.
Inspired by Salesforce report dashboards, while Permissions Assistant offers powerful tools to analyze and audit permissions, there wasn’t a simple way to get a bird’s-eye view of the current state of things.
Admins should be able to quickly answer questions like:
- “How many permission sets do we actually have?”
- “Are we assigning access to inactive users?”
- “Who has risky permissions, and where are those coming from?”
- “What’s changed in the last 30 days?”
We built the Org Overview to surface the answers to those questions—fast.
The Birds-Eye View of Permissions Management
When you open Permissions Assistant, you’ll now land on the Org Overview—a grid of nine interactive tiles (more to come!), each representing a key area of your org’s permissions setup.

Each tile starts in a collapsed view showing a headline metric that deserves your attention. Click on any tile to expand it into a full-screen, filterable report with all the details you need to investigate further.
Whether you want to quickly spot red flags or dive deep into recent changes, the Org Overview makes it simple and intuitive.
What You’ll See: The 9 Report Tiles

Here’s a quick tour of the nine report tiles you’ll find in the first release of the Org Overview:
1. Permission Sets
See the total number of permission sets in your org, and explore each one in detail—including the exact permissions it grants.
2. Profiles
Just like the Permission Sets tile, but focused on Profiles. Quickly identify and review what each profile enables.
3. Permission Set Groups
Track how many PS Groups exist, view assignments, and drill into the combined permissions a group encompasses.
4. Inactive Assignments
Find and clean-up inactive users who still retain permission assignments, shore up security compliance.
5. Unassigned Entities
Round-up unassigned, unneeded permission sets, profiles, or permission set groups. This tile helps you declutter and reduce confusion.
6. Users with Risky Permissions
Quickly spot and keep track of users who have access to sensitive or “dangerous” permissions—like Customize Application or Modify All Data—and see exactly how that access is granted.
7. High-Risk Permissions
Which permission sets or profiles grant access to those dangerous permissions? This tile helps you target and audit those entities directly.
8. Updated Users
Track users who’ve had new permissions assigned in the past 30 days—whether through a permission set, profile, or permission set group.
9. Updated Entities
Keep track of what’s changed lately. This tile surfaces recently created or updated permission sets, profiles, and permission set groups from one list.
Designed for Action, Not Just Insight
The Org Overview isn’t just about showing you metrics—it’s about giving you actionable visibility. Every tile is a launchpad into detailed reporting, filtering, and investigation, so you’re always just a few clicks away from clarity. Certain tiles will also provide recommendations tailored to your org setup that are centered on security-minded Salesforce best practices.

And because the dashboard grid of reporting tiles is configurable, you can keep an eye on the areas that matter most to you—all in one place.
More to Come
We are just getting started. The Permissions Assistant Org Overview will continue to grow in capability. We’ll be adding more tiles, more customization options, and even more intelligent insights in future releases.
Have an idea for a tile you’d like to see? We’d love to hear from you!
